Why Genetic Health Testing is Non-Negotiable

The DCM Crisis
Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) is the single biggest threat to the Dobermann breed. Statistics suggest nearly 50% of Dobermanns may be affected at some point in their lives. This is unacceptable.
We utilize 24-hour Holter monitoring and Echocardiograms annually on all our breeding stock. But we go further.
DNA is the Roadmap
We test for known genetic markers:
* DCM1 (PDK4)
* DCM2 (Titin)
* vWD (von Willebrand's Disease)
Knowing a dog's status allows us to make informed breeding decisions. We never breed two carriers of vWD. We prioritize "clear" dogs but understand that genetic diversity is also crucial.
Beyond the Heart
It's not just about the heart and blood. We also screen for:
* Hip Dysplasia (OFA X-rays)
* Thyroid Function
* Liver & Kidney Function
A puppy from Von Ligerhaus comes with a health guarantee because we have done the homework. We don't guess with lives.
